The mission of AccessOC is to improve access to specialty care among Orange County’s safety-net population (the under- and uninsured), while also enhancing the quality and efficiency of care delivery for patients and families. eConsult, an electronic,
web-based (HIPAA compliant) system helps to solve the problem of access to specialty care by connecting clinic-based primary care physicians with community-based specialists in order to provide more efficient, quality specialty care to the safety net population. Despite common perceptions that Orange County
is an affluent area, many local residents are extremely vulnerable. More than one in four of the county’s approximately 3,048,000 residents live below 200 percent of the federal poverty level, and close to 500,000 county residents are uninsured. AccessOC is taking the lead to assist community clinics to provide quality,
efficient and convenient patient care through the use of eConsult. In addition, thousands of dollars will be saved by deferring unnecessary emergency room visits and unneeded specialty care visits in a community with an inadequate health care infrastructure.

After years of working in pharmaceutical and biological development, the principals of BioStorage Technologies recognized the need to bring the science of development to sample storage and management.
Because the industry had not yet developed the standards of Good Storage Practices, BioStorage Technologies took the rigorous scientific processes used in development and applied them to sample storage.
With facilities custom-designed for cold chain management, BioStorage Technologies has definitively brought science to sample storage and protection. |

| Catholic Healthcare West, Blue Shield of California, and Hill Physicians have successfully operated an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) for CalPERS members.
The integrated health care delivery model aligned incentives across the three participating organizations with the goal of keeping 2010 total health care costs flat (about $400 per member per month).
The program, which launched in January 2010, serves eligible CalPERS members in the greater Sacramento region. To achieve the stated goals, each organization shared clinical and case management information in order to coordinate care more directly.
They agreed to contribute to cost savings and bear the financial risk for any variance from the pilot’s cost reduction goals. By sharing data the three organizations have been able to identify where costs were unnecessarily high and implement solutions to bring those costs down.
At the end of the first year, the ACO resulted in a 15% decrease in inpatient readmissions, a 15% decrease in total days patients spend in a facility, a 50% decrease in inpatient stays of 20 or more days, and $15.5 million in savings. |

| CareCloud is one of the few modern cloud-based practice management products on the market.
In the past decade, technology has improved by leaps and bounds. Unfortunately, many of the current systems available were built 10 years ago when web-based apps were in their infancy – and are now outrageously outdated.
CareCloud’s product is unique because it is web-based, delivers great functionality and connects all of a medical practice’s key players using a digital ecosystem approach, making every healthcare experience better for everyone involved.
CareCloud’s accounts receivable system, reports and billing can be customized on an as-needed basis. This flexibility in billing follow-up is more accurate and uses fewer human hours to track down more money owed.
CareCloud also stands apart because the system focuses on making the user interface simple, elegant and intuitive. |

| SeQual introduced its first generation Eclipse® portable oxygen concentrator (POC) in 2006, the first POC with sufficient oxygen capacity to provide both the “at-home” and “away-from-home” supplemental oxygen needs of nearly the entire population of ambulatory, long-term oxygen therapy (LTOT) patients. Eclipse 3® (the 3rd generation) continues to lead the competition with unique features and innovations: the largest pulse-dose capability (up to 192mL); display of delivered pulse-dose volume; autoSAT®, which maintains the set pulse-dose volume over a wide range of breath rates; pulse duration and pulse sensitivity controls. These unique clinic-tested features offer the clinician and patient the greatest range of operating conditions of any POC. Eclipse 3 lowers the cost of healthcare with fewer hospitalizations, reduced operating costs for providers and lower electrical bills for patients. Widespread acceptance by providers, clinicians and patients has resulted in sales of over 40,000 Eclipse 3 POCs since product introduction in October 2009.

Conceptus is a rapidly growing medical device manufacturer from Mountain View, CA. Our flagship product, Essure, is the first and most effective hysteroscopic permanent birth control available.
It is typically performed in a physician’s office in about 10 minutes without hormones, incisions, burning or the risks associated with general anesthesia or tubal ligation. Small, flexible micro-inserts are placed in the fallopian tubes through the cervix without incisions.
Over the next several weeks, Essure works with a woman’s body to create a natural barrier around the micro-inserts to prevent sperm from reaching the eggs. We have a great product and opportunity. However, success will require us to educate women on Essure, convince clinicians to talk with their patients about permanent contraception and train physicians on proper procedural technique.
Last June, we embarked on project to utilize iPads to interact with our clinicians. We designed and developed the Essure Experience Application and launched it in January to our sales force of 180 professionals. It has proven to offer the following benefits: 1. Conversations are more engaging 2. Marketing messaged are clear and consistent 3. Follow up is quicker and more frequent 4. Our CRM system is utilized more effectively and is more accurate 5. Our sales reps are more efficient 6. We will save over $120K a year in printing costs.
The first generation of the Experience Essure App. is innovative, but also transformational. We are using this digital platform and knowledge to create patient-facing apps. And more. We have created a digital marketing team and plan to continue to push to the edge of the digital world so we can create more innovative solutions that revolutionize healthcare for women. |

When transporting a patient from the field to the hospital, vacuum splints and mattresses have long been recognized as the highest standard of care. They support and immobilize a patient in their position of comfort, protect the patient from developing the pressure sores and soft tissue damage that occur when lying on a hard backboard, and are quick and easy to use.
The barriers to their use have been their high cost and large size, which EMS/Fire departments have to accommodate with reduced funding and limited vehicle storage space. The FASPLINT FULLBODY splint provides fast, effective and comfortable vacuum immobilization at a budget-friendly price.
With a streamlined, tapered design, it fits into a much smaller space for easier storage and is priced at least 70% below the cost of a typical vacuum mattress, enabling more EMS providers to bring the highest level of care to their patients.

The challenges facing today’s modern health care company is at an all-time high. Healthcare Reform is now a fact of life for most health plans and hospitals, and is requiring an unprecedented need for innovative and proven cost reduction solutions in order to remain competitive and thrive in this new environment.
A high percentage of costs incurred by plans and hospitals are directly related to skilled clinical labor which continues to demand high wages due to the ongoing critical shortage for nurses, pharmacists and physicians. Our ability to provide highly skilled clinical resources has given our clients’ added flexibility in managing their internal operations.
Many clients’ are able to redeploy their clinicians to work on programs such as disease/case management, and wellness/preventative care initiatives. The ability to ramp up these programs internally greatly impacts our clients’ value with their members and providers and greatly impacts their profitability. MediCall has been the industry pioneer and leader of clinical services solutions for the past eight years.
Clinical healthcare services is its only focus and MediCall has built the organization from the ground up to address higher clinical, compliance, and IT requirements for handling clinical and personal health information. MediCall has grown to over 1,000 US and Philippine licensed nurses, as well as physicians, and pharmacists. The foundation of the company is built around three key components.
First, they have established a secure and reliable and scalable Information Technology infrastructure which ensures our clients’ data never leave the US. Second, it has worked to establish sound clinical operations in its Philippines service centers, represented by the fact that MediCall is the first and only global clinical resource provider with multiple URAC accreditations.
Finally, it’s established a U.S. based client service team with clinical expertise to offer a “high touch support model to our clients. Its clinicians, combined with proven results within the healthcare industry are the key differentiators to its competitors.

| The idea of the Universal Health Record is that a patient would have one secure electronic file which is consolidated, comprehensive, universally accessible from anywhere in the world, under the control of the patient, and most important of all, all the computer-based analytical tools available can be applied to finding things in the patient's record that could be overlooked by a busy doctor.
The patient might relate to the UHR as a sort of personal health journal in which he or she can keep notes of a subjective nature or perhaps the results of home tests like blood pressure. The pharmacist might see it as, primarily, a file for keeping drug use organized. The lab might see it as a modern way to deliver laboratory results to the doctor, and so on.

| At the turn of the 20th century, the sacroiliac joint (SIJ) was often diagnosed to be the primary pain generator of low back pain (LBP). In many cases, this was successfully treated with an open fusion of the SI joint. With the combination of the morbidity of the open SIJ fusion and the discovery of the herniated disc in 1934, attention became more focused on the lumbar spine and the SIJ as a pain generator was all but forgotten.
Recently, interest in the SIJ as a LBP generator has renewed, and surgical treatment options have improved. Current reports suggest that 15%-30% of LBP is attributed to the SIJ. SI-BONE has developed the first minimally invasive SIJ fusion system (iFuse) designed to treat patients with SIJ dysfunction. Clinical outcomes suggest that over 90% of the treated iFuse patients are satisfied and the iFuse significantly reduces pain and improves function.

The Orthopedic Clinic Association adopted Intuit Health’s Patient Portal to dramatically reduce paperwork, limit unnecessary phone calls and improve accuracy to dedicate more time to patient care.
Since our initial adoption, we have been able to save thousands in mailing and paper costs due to the increase in online form completion. In addition, with the help of the Patient Portal’s Expense Tracker function, we have been able to realize approximately $16,000 monthly in collections, compared to about $500 monthly before.
Over 92 percent of our patients complete initial paperwork online, resulting in 17,268 completed online forms filled out in a fiscal year and $11,300 in new patient paperwork savings.
