Jon Faiz Kayyem, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer

Osmetech's eSensor® XT-8 System detects multiple genetic variations that identify patients at risk for warfarin sensitivity, thus allowing estimation of the optimal and safe dose of warfarin, the world’s most widely-used oral anticoagulant to prevent blood clots, heart attacks, and stroke (over 30 million prescriptions in the U.S. in 2004).  Its use also results in a high rate of severe and potentially life-threatening adverse effects with 70~100 severe bleeding events for every 1000 patients treated per year. The eSensor system utilizes electrochemical detection-based DNA microarray technology to genotype multiple alleles that correlate with therapeutic warfarin dose and with the frequency of adverse effects from warfarin over-dosage.

Abaxis
Abaxis, Inc.

Clint Severson, Chairman, President & CEO

Originally developed by NASA for use in the space shuttle program, the Abaxis technology is the only chemistry analyzer to achieve CLIA waived status for complex, comprehensive chemistry. The technology is so easy that anyone can use it to conduct lab-accurate blood chemistry analysis in minutes.  Abaxis' point-of-care blood chemistry analyzer systems help physicians receive immediate blood chemistry results on their patients, rather than the 2-3 day turnaround from reference labs. This helps them begin critical treatments faster, thereby improving patient outcomes and reducing exacerbation of aggressive illnesses.  It also helps the clinics to improve efficiency and profitability through direct reimbursement and/or cash-pay for diagnostic services.

Biomatrica’s proprietary platform technology enables the storage, transport and assaying of DNA, RNA, proteins, cells and virus samples, reagents, vaccines, and screening applications at room temperature without degradation, allowing labs to reduce their reliance on freezers and drastically reduce shipping costs. (Currently, more than 98% of all biological materials are protected from degradation through the "global cold chain" storage -- an environment of 4ºC to -210ºC; 39.2ºF to -347ºF -- that the world spends more than $34 billion on annually.)

MedApps

Kent Dicks, CEO

The MedApps system is designed to link patients, families and healthcare professionals by providing a convenient way to remotely collect, transmit, store and report timely and accurate health information - anywhere. MedApps was granted a 510(k) market clearance by the FDA for its expanded, flexible telehealth solution, which features the HealthPAL, a small, portable personal health device, to collect and transmit readings from glucose meters, blood pressure monitors, weight scales and pulse oximeters. The collected data is automatically transmitted to a secure central server where it can be accessed by healthcare professionals, or stored to an online electronic PHR. HealthPAL is simple to use, eliminating the need for specialized hardware, expensive cellular plans, or computers to collect and transmit biometric readings.

MMR Information Systems, Inc.
Robert Lorsch, CEO

MyMedicalRecords.com is the first web-based PHR that is 100% patient-centric and designed to help health consumers manage personal health information from any provider they are seeing. When they enroll in the service, users receive a personal telephone number (either toll-free or fax). Providers can use this number to fax records directly into the user’s account and then file records using a comprehensive document management system, as well as share records with other providers by printing or fax-forwarding them over the Internet. In addition, it allows users to maintain a complete and accurate listing of prescriptions using the Cerner/Multum drug database as the backbone.
