Taiwan honors CEO of Irvine's IOGear

Sampson Yang, chief executive of IOGear in Irvine, received the Taiwan Entrepreneur Award, a national prize given to Taiwan-owned companies in Taiwan and overseas.

Yang, 40, started the company in 1999 selling networking products that allow two computers to share a mouse, keyboard and monitor.

IOGear now employs 100 people in Irvine and operates as a consumer unit of Taiwan's Aten Technology.

Yang and his wife and partner, Vanessa Chen, received the award at a Dec. 18 ceremony. The award has gone to 400 companies since 1978.
