*Named as a nursing Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialling
Center. Only hospital in Bay Area to be a magnet hospital. Only 1 of 8 in
California and among 187 in United States.
*Accredited by Santa Clara County as a stroke center, completed JCAHO
stroke center accreditation survey and awaiting final confirmation.
*Named a 2005 American Hospital Association McKesson Quest for Quality
Award finalist. Four awards are given each year: a top finalist, two
finalists and a commendation of merit winner.
*Became a Blue Cross Center of Expertise for bariatric surgery.
*For third year running, named one of nation's "100 Most Wired
Hospitals."
*Named as one of three Bay Area hospitals to participate in Moore
Foundation's 5-10-year $90 million grant to improve patient safety.
*Financials for FY2005 show the hospital with an operating surplus of more
than $45 million, compared to a loss of $13 million in FY2000.
2004
*Named by Commonwealth Fund as one of four high performing hospitals in
the country in its report "Hospital Quality: Ingredients for
Success." The study looked at 20 million patient records from 2,697
hospitals in 18 states.
*First among health care organizations and number four overall in San
Francisco Business Times 50 Best Places to Work in Bay Area.
*For the second year running, received highest rating (three stars) in
California Hospital Experience Survey.
*Earned Professional Research Consultant's President's Award for being
first and only hospital to score in the top 10 percent in all major
categories in customer service surveys.
*Given full three-year accreditation by JCAHO
2003
*Named a Blue Cross Center of Expertise for coronary bypass surgery
*Passed a $148 million bond issue by more than 70% margin -- funds will
be used for construction of new hospital.
*Provided space, staff and funds for the relocation of ROtaCare Free
Clinic on hospital campus.

Camino Hospital CEO Departing to Lead Oregon-Based Health Care
Organization

View, CA, December 8, 2005 –
El Camino Hospital today announced that CEO Lee Domanico is leaving the
hospital to accept a position as CEO with the Portland, Oregon-based
nonprofit health care organization, Legacy Health System. Domanico will
continue to serve El Camino Hospital through January 8, 2006.
Domanico
joined El Camino Hospital as CEO on October 30, 2000. During his tenure,
the hospital significantly improved its financial position and gained
voter approval for a bond measure to help finance the construction of a
planned new, seismically-safe hospital building.
It has also won several prestigious national awards for quality
health care and innovation.
“Based
on any objective assessment, Lee Domanico has been a great CEO for El
Camino Hospital," said Dr. Edward Bough, Chairman of the El Camino
Hospital Board and a cardiologist at the hospital. “While we wish him
the best in his future position, we will miss his vision, leadership and
continuous drive for improvement."
Legacy
Health System operates five hospitals as well as a hospice agency, a
full-service research facility, and specialty and primary care clinics. The organization provides an integrated network of services,
including acute and critical care, inpatient and outpatient treatment,
community health education and a variety of specialty services.
The
El Camino Hospital District Board will announce plans for the
hospital’s future leadership when it is appropriate to do so.
