Treat Colorectal Cancers

AT&T Chosen by
Critical Care Systems; Wins Stevie Awards

new contract to provide network services to Critical Care Systems

Medicare Testing Personal Health Records
CMS, where Jeff Flick is Regional Administrator and Dave Sayen is
Associate Regional Administrator, has announced a new pilot program
that will
enable certain beneficiaries to access and use a Personal Health
Record provided through participating health plans -- including Kaiser
Permanente, where Christine Paige is a senior executive, and
accessible through
www.mymedicare.gov. The PHR tools will allow
the beneficiary to look up information about their own medications and
medical conditions to help them manage their own healthcare.

of Mandatory Reporting
Davis Wright Tremaine, where Gerry Hinkley is a Partner,
has published an Advisory Bulletin, entitled "The
Specter of Mandatory Stark Reporting Rears its Head (Again)." It
says, in part: " CMS has begun the process to require 500
hospitals to provide a broad range of detailed information about their
financial relationships with physicians, including copies of documents
that define these relationships. The CEO or CFO will be required to
certify in writing that the submission is “true and correct to the
best of my belief and knowledge." ... "Even if you are not one of the
'Lucky
500,' you might want to consider whether your hospital could respond
appropriately and comprehensively in the time allotted."

Abbott to Fight Cancer
Genentech,

research, development and commercialization of two of Abbott's

Sacred Heart Performs Breakthrough Cancer Treatment
The first minimally invasive procedure to treat a tumor of the liver was
recently performed at Sacred Heart Medical Center, where Skip Davis
is CEO -- the only medical center in Washington state to offer this
procedure. Using a process called embolization, radioactive beads are
passed through blood vessels to treat the liver tumor directly. While
surgery and chemotherapy are currently the first line of therapy, this
new procedure provides hope for patients who thought they had run out of
options.

The Sutter Health network of physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare
