CAeHC's
Chief, Kathy Tavitian,
Joins ABL Organization
Santa Ana, CA —
April 15, 2010 —
Kathy
Tavitian, CEO of the California eHealth Collaborative, has joined the Adaptive Business Leaders Organization (ABL). As
part of California’s leading vertical-industry Chief Executives’
Organization, ABL Members provide one another with executive leadership
coaching through its confidential, professionally-facilitated, peer-CEO
Advisory Board Round Tables, executive
learning workshops, network of CEO peers, and expert resources.
The
California eHealth Collaborative (CAeHC) aims to provide an open and
inclusive approach for eHealth activities in California that will drive
the development of secure access to clinically-relevant information at
the point of care. Launched in February 2009, CAeHC is a grass-roots
effort by Californians who believe that full and open collaboration is
the best way to focus collective efforts as a state, and to address
emerging issues related to all eHealth technologies. During 2009, CAeHC
developed proposed Principles, Mission and Governance documents,
presented a comprehensive series of educational eHealth Webinars, held a
statewide series of Townhall Meetings to gather local stakeholder input
on eHealth opportunities and priorities, and hosted a public
demonstration of the NHIN Connect Gateway. In 2010, CAeHC will carry on the
work of achieving a vision for HIT supporting care, continuing to
partner with organizations in achieving its mission.
Previously, Kathy was CEO of the National Coalition for Health
Integration (NCHI), a non-profit partnership focused on changing the way
that health information is shared. Prior to joining NCHI, Kathy served
in increasingly responsible roles at Walgreen Co, a Fortune 50 company,
where she led entrepreneurial business-to-business initiatives that
contributed close to $1 billion in incremental annual revenue. During
her 15-year career at Walgreens, Kathy gained a broad perspective of the
healthcare industry and built synergistic partnerships with executives
from diverse healthcare industry groups. She also led the design and
adoption of innovative healthcare solutions that enhanced
patient-centric care. Most recently, Kathy was a Senior VP of Healthcare
Business Development for Walgreens Health Services, where she built the
Health System Solutions and Worksite Pharmacy businesses from the ground
up and played a senior role in developing Walgreens’ retail medical
clinic solution. She was instrumental in several strategic acquisitions,
including the acquisition of Take Care Health Systems. Earlier in her
career at Walgreens, Kathy was a Senior Real Estate Manager and a Senior
Attorney. Prior to Walgreens, she practiced corporate and transactional
law for nine years with several firms, including Sonnenschein, Nath &
Rosenthal. She also worked in the public accounting industry as a CPA
for KPMG before attending law school.
Kathy earned her BS degree in General Management/Accounting from Purdue
University – Krannert School of Management in 1979. She earned her JD
from Yale Law School in 1984.
About the Adaptive Business Leaders (ABL) Organization
ABL supports the needs of its Member CEOs by providing a place for
top-level executives to draw on the experience, knowledge and skill sets
of their peers in a vertical industry, personal advisory board –
“multi-coach approach” – setting.
The
core component of the CEO Membership experience is the group Round Table
meeting. Members meet once a month for a half-day with a group of peer
CEOs, Presidents, COOs and Division General Managers from non-competing
companies, all from the same industry (healthcare, technology or life
sciences), in a trusted and confidential board room-like setting, which
allows ABL Members to tackle topics and enhance their decision making
and business performance. Topics include: developing and honing new
business strategies and best practices, new lines of business,
“A-players” on the management team, and an effective board of directors,
as well as understanding trends in new markets, mergers and
acquisitions, compensation, and other “hot” topics brought to the Round
Tables by the Members themselves.
ABL Members also gather several times a year at workshops and
conferences to exchange ideas and connect with other chief executives
beyond their own CEO peer groups. In effect, ABL Members serve as one
another’s business coaches within the Round Tables and are encouraged to
connect and leverage their co-Member peers’ particular skills and
expertise for additional leadership coaching, one-on-one, outside of
their monthly group meeting. In addition, each Round Table’s facilitator
also serves as an objective business advisor, offering executive and
industry insights and advice.
ABL's
Chief Executive Leadership Development Round Table program is currently
offered in California's Greater Los Angeles, Orange and San Francisco
County areas. More information about the ABL Organization can be found
